Research Grants

MAVF will provide research grants to individual scholars, research organizations, think tanks, academics etc. with a view to build a strong body of knowledge including analysis, approaches, policies and measurement tools to permanently end hunger and malnutrition

It is the premise of the MAV Foundation that to permanently end the vicious cycle of hunger, malnutrition and chronic diseases associated with diet imbalance, we need to obtain answers to the questions surrounding hunger and food insecurity. Specifically, we seek to: (i) develop a deeper understanding of the societal, environmental and socioeconomic factors that lead to discrepancies between food production and availability in specific sub-populations (examples: food deserts and/or counties with the lowest socioeconomic status); (ii) define context-specific solutions, guidelines and policy recommendations to resolve hunger and malnutrition (examples: food distribution, local sourcing, availability of fresh produce, cooking skills); (iii) implement solutions in collaborative efforts with grassroots programs and (iv) measure the long-term effectiveness of such approaches.

Who Should Apply?

We solicit applications from economists, sociologists, biologists, statisticians, and other individuals and organizations qualified to conduct research into the above four areas. Interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches are especially welcome; we particularly seek applicants who are willing to work with the MAVF to aid in implementation and integration of their research outcomes into a ‘solutions pipeline’ to permanently end hunger and malnutrition.
